Alexa enjoys visiting schools to talk about books, writing, and the creative process.
She speaks to primary students in Stage 2 (year 3-4) and Stage 3 (year 5-6), about writing, as well as anxiety, self-management and resilience, using her middle-grade series MICHAELA MASON’s WORRIES as a starting point. She also runs a writer’s room workshop for these age groups, working as a team to develop a TV show idea.
As a poet and rhyming picture-book author, Alexa inspires students from kindergarten to year 8 to play with language and write their own poetry, giving them a fun, curriculum-based understanding of rhyme, rhythm and metre.
TESTIMONIALS
‘The younger students thoroughly enjoyed listening to Alexa read her picture book ‘Bat and Poss’ and discuss where she got her inspiration and ideas for the book, and the older students could identify with Michaela Mason. They enjoyed discussing and learning about what makes children anxious and thinking about strategies to overcome these challenges … What a great way to end a term!’
